Monkey Rolls

Ingredients
2 cups lukewarm water
1/2 - 3/4 cups sugar
1 pkg dry yeast ????? Keri says 1TBSP
2 Eggs
3 cups flour + 4 cups flour
4 TBSP melted shortening (cooled)
1 tsp salt
Directions
1) Combine water, sugar, yeast, and 2 beaten eggs
2) Sift in 3 cups flour (beat well)
3) Add melted shortening (cooled)
4) Add 4 more cups flour and salt (combine these first)
5) Put damp cloth over bowl and let raise for 1 hour
6) Stir down and refrigerate
7) Melt 1 square of butter in ring mold
8) Roll out and cut with cookie cutter to 2 inch diameter
9) Pile 5 or 6 piles of 5 in each pile
10) Place piles upright like a wheel in a ring mold
11) Let raise for 2 hours
12) Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes

These were grandma Schades speciality. Here motto was the more butter the better.
