English Toffee

Ingredients
1/2 lb real butter
1 cup and 2 T sugar
dash of salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 large hershey bar (8 oz)
1 cup of chopped walnuts


Directions
1) Use heavy sauce pan for cooking
2) Combine butter, sugar, and salt in pan
3) Cook and stir constantly until 350 degrees (use thermometer)
4) Remove from heat
5) Quickly add 1 tsp vanilla
6) Quickly spread mixture onto buttered cookie sheet and spread with spatula
7) Sprinkle broken pieces of chocolate onto hot candy
8) Spread chocolate around while it melts
9) Sprinkle with walnuts
10) Refrigerate

This was my favorite Christmas treat as a young boy. Mom would make this for Christmas gifts but I would eat it before it ever turned into a gift.
