Walnut-Pear Sour Cream Cake

Ingredients
1 cup broken walnuts
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. Ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 medium pears, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 2 cups).
2 tsp lemon juice
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 eggs
1 8 oz. Carton dairy sour cream
1/2 cup broken walnuts (optional)
Directions
1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2) Grease 9x9x2 baking pan
3) Combine 1 cups nuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon
4) For topping, cut 1/4 cup butter into 1/3 cup flour to make crumbs.
5) Stir in 3/4 cup of the nut mixture and set aside.
6) Toss pears with lemon juice & set aside
7) In medium bowl; combine 1 3.4 cups flour, baking powder, soda, and salt; set aside
8) In large bowl, beat 1/2 cup butter for 30 seconds
9) Beat in sugar and vanilla
10) Add eggs one at a time beating well
11) Add flour mixture & sour cream alternatively to batter
12) Beat on low speed until combined
13) Spread 2/3's of batter into prepared pan
14) Sprinkle with reserved nut mixture
15) Layer pears over top
16) Gently spread remaining batter over pears
17) Sprinkle with reserve topping
18) Bake 55 minutes
19) Toothpick test
20) Cool 30 minutes
