Bryant's first area in Costa Rica is the city of Liberia. It is the capital city of the Guanacaste province which is the northern most province in Costa Rica. Nicaragua borders the province to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the west (see map). It is a small quiety city and is relatively small by US standards. It has a population of about 35,000 people. It has a colonial atmosphere and is often called "la ciudad blanca" (white city) because most of the buildings are made of white washed adobe. The region is the most sparsely populated of any region in Costa Rica. It has the largest cattle farms in the entire country. Bryant lives in fairly humble place with 3 other missionaries from the states. |
